A Shelfie

I'm really late to this game but I'm following up on the shelfies of my blogging best buds Alex at Alex Can Read, and SleepingKoala45 at Wishful Thinking. Here I present a shelfie of some (yes, only some) of my children's books.

Just ignore the unswept floor. I was too busy reading to sweep or photoshop. This little bookcase holds my much-loved books from my childhood. (There are a few newer books in there, plus one is my Irish grandfather's book from 1925!) This bookcase explains my resounding love of fairy tales and folktales, the Snow Queen, Baba Yaga and Vasilisa, and of course, my love of mermaids, just like Clelia does.

One of these days I take a photo of my grownup books about folk and fairy tales. That will include all my Katharine Briggs books (so much Katharine Briggs) and those of Jack Zipes, Carol Rose, and many, many others. That's probably going to have to be several pictures.

I could wax lyrical about how my Irish grandmother used to read me the absolutely goriest Irish fairy and folk tales when I was little (I was enthralled by savage fae and this explains much) but I'm kind of blue about how my beloved kitty Pushkin is doing, so I'll skip going on about a person I miss excruciatingly, even 33 years after her passing.
